Results of workpackage 6 – Launch and Quality Management

Until now, the experiences of various machine operators and a trial and error process were the characteristic approaches to stabilizing complex micro production processes in the launch phase and optimizing the production phase. This time-consuming approach is expensive, and it is not possible to plan how much time is needed for pre-commissioning and what the output quality will be. Therefore the objective of this work package is to support production through quality management methods with which to analyze and sustainably improve the production processes. This will be achieved by, for example, the application of quality control loops. The approach involves the identification of failure influences and the corresponding quality parameters, the assignment of measurement systems, the evaluation of measurement data and the feedback of corrective measures to the machine controls. The main object is to determine the qualitative optimal parameters for the production of optical components and the systematical accumulation, analysis and presentation of process expertise. This makes it possible to switch quickly from low scale to high scale production.
The following activities have already been carried out: process analysis, failure budget analysis and the assignment of measurement systems to measurement tasks. Partners have been provided with tailor-made software tools like for example an assistant for inspection planning.
